The Tattoed Truth with Anna Love

19 - The Moment I Chose Presence: Lessons From a Solo Parent

Anna Love Season 2 Episode 19

Today’s episode is a deeply personal one. I’m speaking straight from the heart about motherhood, divorce, and the quiet moments that change everything when you’re raising children through heartbreak and transition.

This conversation was inspired by a chapter I’m currently writing in my book. As I reflected on that season of my life, I realized how many women might be walking through something similar right now. Becoming a single mom. Navigating grief while still showing up every day. Trying to hold everything together while your children are silently asking for more of you than you think you have to give.

I share what it was really like raising three young girls after my divorce, the overwhelm, the control patterns, the self medicating, and the exhaustion that came from trying to do everything “right.” I talk honestly about how I mistook productivity and a clean house for stability, while missing what my children actually needed most. Connection.

This episode is about the moment I realized that quality presence mattered more than doing it all. How 15 minutes of one-on-one time with each child completely shifted the emotional dynamic in our home. And how that simple change opened space not only for my girls to feel seen and secure, but for me to finally breathe again.

If you are a mother who feels stretched thin, resentful, guilty, or like there’s never enough of you to go around, this episode will meet you with compassion and truth. You are not failing. You are learning. And sometimes the smallest shifts create the deepest healing.
